Trio of Semi-Finalists after impressive Quarter-Final Performances

With day three of the Scottish Open here at the Emirates Arena Glasgow in full swing, 3/4 of Scottish teams have made it to the semi-finals.

The morning started off with Alex Dunn and Julie MacPherson competing in mixed doubles against Germany’s  Simon Krax and Amelie Lehmann. A strong and consistent performance with the pair winning in two sets, with the final set having a 7-point difference to their components. An impressive win from the pair securing their place in the semi-finals later this afternoon.

Secondly, we had Kirsty Gilmour, competing for her spot in the semi-final in the Women’s singles. She won 21 – 11 after Kim Ga Ram retired from an injury, ending the match early. Kirsty will now face Lee So Yul this afternoon for a place in Sunday’s final

Unfortunately for Alex Dunn and Adam Pringle did not progress to the semi-final. Although winning the first set they were edged out in the final set finishing 27- 25.

Julie MacPherson and Ciara Torrance closed the quarter finals with a win in the woman’s doubles game against Sweden. Having lost the first set, Torrance and MacPherson did not let that phase them and winning the next two sets 21 – 16 and 21 – 15 guaranteeing them their spot in the semi-final.

Overall, an excellent performance from Scotland during the quarter finals today at the Scottish Open. On to the semi-finals.
