Small but Mighty Masters Team bring nine medals back to Scotland

Scotland’s Masters Team recently competed at the European Senior Championships in Belgium at the beginning of the month coming away with a plethora of silverware for their efforts.

With 16 Scottish players competing, the team brought 4 Golds, 2 Silvers and 3 Bronze across the seven days. Most Notably was Dan Travers who picked up three golds in the Over 65 categories in the mixed doubles with Christine Black, the mens doubles with Jesper Hellidie from Denmark as well as the Mens singles.

The other gold that was picked up was from Mark Mackay and Drifa Hardardottir in the Over 45S Mixed Doubles.

Alongside her gold with Dan Travers in the Over 65s mixed doubles, Christine Black also picked up a silver in the womens singles. Lynne Campbell and Helen Milne also took home a silver for the women’s doubles in the Over 50s.

It was the doubles where Scotland claimed their bronzes with Alan McMillan and Craig Robertson in the Over 50s mens doubles, Jill Smith and Linda Wood in the Over 60s womens doubles and Mark Mackay and Mark Law in the Over 40s mens doubles.

With over 1500 players from all over Europe competing Scotland’s small but mighty squad performed exceptionally well.
