Teams gear up for inaugural Masters Inter Group
This weekend will mark the inaugural Masters Inter Group Badminton event as six teams from all over the country battle it out for the title at the Sir Craig Reedie Centre in Glasgow.
Badminton Scotland already runs a Junior Inter Group and a Senior Inter Group, but with a resurgence in Masters badminton currently underway in the country it was felt that a Masters Inter Group would be a welcome addition to the annual calendar.
And with six out of the nine regional groups in Scotland entering, it looks like the first edition of the event will be a success.
Glasgow and North Strathclyde, Highlands, Lanarkshire, Lothian, Midlands and West of Scotland Groups have all entered and all six teams will face off against each other in a group setting.
And the event has attracted a high calibre of player, including numerous national champions and even some medalists on the European and World stage.
It will be played over two age groups – 35+ and 50+ – with each match involving nine rubbers.
The 35+ age group will involve men’s and women’s singles and doubles as well as mixed doubles, while the 50+ age group will include one men’s doubles, one women’s doubles and two mixed.
Draws, results and schedules are online on Badminton Scotland’s Tournament Software page.
