Three Scots Ready for Yonex Dutch Open Challenge

29th September 2026 by Robert McLean

Three Scottish players have arrived in the Dutch city of ’s-Hertogenbosch this week, ready to begin their campaigns at the Yonex Dutch Open, with play getting underway tomorrow.

Following an injury setback, Angus Meldrum makes his return to the European circuit in men’s singles and will be hoping to negotiate his way through qualifying and into the main draw.

Meldrum begins his tournament in the round of 32 qualifying, where he faces a difficult opening challenge against Danish fourth seed Mathias Solgaard, currently ranked 208th in the world.

The pair are scheduled to meet in the seventh match on Court 1 tomorrow, with Meldrum looking to make a positive return to international competition.

There is also a strong Scottish presence in the men’s doubles, with twins Matt and Chris Grimley entering the tournament as the top seeds.

The Grimleys will begin their campaign in the last 16 and are not expected to take to court until Friday. They will face either Ireland’s Guildea and Reynolds or Swiss pairing Franconville and Panza.

With three Scots competing across the tournament, there will be plenty to follow from a Scottish perspective as the action gets underway in ’s-Hertogenbosch.

You can watch all the action live on Badminton Europe TV, while we’ll have match updates from the Netherlands across our website and social media channels.
