Victor Croatian International 2025 – Tournament Preview

24th September by Robert McLean

Scotland’s young development stars are ready to make their mark on the international stage as they head to the picturesque Croatian town of Samobor for the Victor Croatian International 2025, a key stop on the BWF Future Series circuit.

Flying the Saltire this week are promising talents Josh Taylor, Evan Kenny, Amy Craig, Sophie Ford, and Katie Stewart, all eager to gain vital international experience and test themselves against rising stars from across Europe and beyond.

Thursday – Women’s Singles Take Centre Stage

The tournament gets underway on Thursday, with women’s singles action kicking off the Scottish campaign.

  • Amy Craig will open her tournament on Court 1 (Match 7) in the qualifying round of 16, where she faces Doga Simal Kocak of Turkey. A confident start here will be key as Amy looks to push into the main draw.

  • Over on Court 2 (Match 6), Sophie Ford has a challenging opener against the 3rd seed in qualifying, Maria Kisiel of Poland. It’s a tough draw, but Sophie will be aiming to rise to the occasion and cause an early upset.

Friday – Doubles Disciplines Heat Up

Friday’s action sees all five Scottish players in action across the doubles events:

  • The day begins with a mixed doubles clash as Josh Taylor and Katie Stewart take on the Turkish pair of Doga Simal Kocak and Mete Kaan Ucan on Court 2 in the opening match of the day.

  • In the men’s doubles, Josh Taylor teams up with Evan Kenny. The Scottish duo are scheduled for a 2:15 PM showdown on Court 1, where they’ll face Norway’s Andreas Roksvaag and Mathias Wong in a round of 32 contest.

  • Wrapping up Day 2, the women’s doubles pairing of Amy Craig and Sophie Ford take to the court against Zoja Novak (Slovenia) and Barbara Janičić (Croatia) — a chance for the Scots to cap off the day with a strong performance.
