Yonex MCFM East of Scotland U15 & UI9 Junior Championships 2025

This year’s Yonex MCFM East of Scotland Under 15 and Under 19 Junior Championships were held this weekend at the Jack Kane Centre with another strong entry in both age groups.

We were delighted to welcome back one of our sponsors, Martin Campbell, to watch the finals and then present the prizes. We really appreciate the support that we continue to receive from Martin Campbell Financial Management and Yonex and we are also extremely appreciative of the additional support which has been provided by the City of Edinburgh Council.

As always, there were lots of entertaining and competitive matches throughout the weekend concluding with some excellent semi finals and finals on the Sunday. In the under 15 age group, Zoe Tait was a double winner (girls’ doubles and mixed doubles). Lothian’s Emma Joshua reached all 3 finals in the under 15 age group, winning the girls’ doubles with Zoe. In the under 19 age group, local players Blair Tait (boys’ doubles and mixed doubles) and Deepti Vijayakumar (girls’ singles and mixed doubles) were also double winners. Unfortunately, Thomas Fragell sustained an injury in the final of the U19 boys’ singles against his boys’ doubles partner, Arnav Saraswat, which resulted in him having to withdraw from both the boys’ doubles and mixed doubles finals.

We are extremely grateful to the members of the Lothian Badminton Group committee who assisted throughout the weekend, the Badminton Scotland Court Officials who umpired the finals and to the staff at the Jack Kane who were very helpful throughout.

The next big event in Lothian will be the Yonex MCFM East of Scotland Gold U13 & U17 Junior Championships which will take place at the Jack Kane Centre on 1st and 2nd November. You can enter at the following link:
