Yonex MCFM East of Scotland U15 & U19 Junior Championships 2026
This year’s Yonex MCFM East of Scotland Under 15 and Under 19 Junior Championships were held this weekend at the Jack Kane Centre with another strong entry in both age groups.
As always, there were lots of entertaining and competitive matches throughout the weekend finishing with some hotly contested semi finals and finals on the Sunday, particularly in the under 15 age group. It was a great weekend for Lothian player Yingfan Wang, who was a treble winner in this age group. Yingfan came through some stern tests in the finals, particularly in the singles and mixed doubles. Highland players featured prominently in the under 15 girls’ events with Josie Columbine being a double winner (singles and girls’ doubles). Chloe Mackenzie, who also hails from the Highlands, was a double winner in the under 19 age group, winning the girls’ and mixed doubles.
We really appreciate the support that we continue to receive from Martin Campbell Financial Management and Yonex as without their support, it would not be possible to run these events.
We are extremely grateful to the members of the Lothian Badminton Group committee who assisted throughout the weekend, the Badminton Scotland Court Officials who umpired the finals and to the staff at the Jack Kane who were very helpful throughout.
We were delighted that Lothian legend, Christine Black, fresh from winning yet another European Masters title, was able to present the prizes to the players.
The next big event in Lothian will be the Yonex MCFM East of Scotland Gold U13 & U17 Junior Championships which will take place at the Jack Kane Centre on 7th and 8th November. Entries are now open at the following link on the Badminton Scotland Tournament Software site.
