History of The Scottish Open
First held in 1907, the Scottish Open is the third oldest badminton tournament in the world and since its inception it has grown over the years, welcoming a better quality of players and becoming a better spectating experience.
Numerous World, Olympic, Commonwealth and European champions have competed in Glasgow over the last few years and you can see previous winners of the event here

The Scottish Open is the third oldest event in badminton world history and is held in Glasgow’s Emirates Arena, a state of the art facility purpose built for the 2014 Commonwealth Games where the badminton competition was staged. The 2023 Scottish Open will be played from 5-8 October at Emirates Arena.
The event attracts hundreds of players from all over the world, as well as incorparating various grass roots activities providing opportunities for Scottish schoolchildren to try the sport, develop their skills, have fun and watch elite level badminton live.
We rely on volunteers to help us make the event happen and we offer opportunities in a variety of roles including transportation, hospitality and stewarding.

As part of the event we will be hosting a Badminton Europe National Umpire Workshop and appraisal. Further information on this will be available closer to the event.
